These Swarovski crystal post earrings are handcrafted using unalloyed titanium martini cup posts manufactured by Dirinda Patterson. All earrings are made in USA with medical grade 100% unalloyed titanium -- the best choice for those with allergic reactions to other metals. Dirinda's family business manufactures surgical implants for surgeons and dentists. She maintains the same strict quality control on her earrings as the surgical implants so the earrings are free from contaminants which are often the cause of allergic reactions. The length of the posts on these earrings are 10mm long with standard 20 gauge post diameter.

Because the melting temperature of titanium is extremely high, titanium cannot be metalsmithed like gold or silver so that the metal can be shaped to hold the crystals. These crystals are set in the titanium post cups with jewelers glue. As such these earrings should not be worn while swimming or showering to avoid exposure to chemicals which may degrade the seal. While the posts on these earrings are pure unalloyed titanium, these earrings are not suitable as healing earrings that are worn 24 hours a day due to the risk of losing a crystal. However if a crystal comes loose or you lose a crystal, please let me know to arrange for repair free of charge other than the cost of mailing the earrings to me. I am in the process of trying other adhesives to see if I can find one that holds up to repeated exposure to water and chemicals.

We highly recommend first wearing the earrings shown on the Starter Earrings page to heal piercing with an allergic reaction before wearing the anodized earrings, french hook style or heavier post or dangle earrings.
